These sites are usually very open therefor the sun will hit you directly as there is very little shed and unfortunate thing is that you will find large crowds there for moving from one place will be a little bit hard for you. If you are in a dilemma of either visiting Pompeii and Herculaneum go with Herculaneum because the crowds in this place are very minimal as it is not as famous as Pompeii. Visiting Pompeii and Herculaneum in the cooler months between November and April is the best decision you can make.
